Accra – Food supply system for lower income urban consumers

With a growing population, feeding Ghana’s capital city Accra is a huge challenge that offers great opportunities for food market development. LIFTcities developed jointly with students of the Giving Back Master class training programme  the first version of a model of ‘urban food supply chain’, a concept that will simultaneously serve the interests of smallholders and the interests of low income urban consumers. The food supply chain regroups associated rural food producers, merchants of different size and associated urban consumers and will create gains for all stakeholders in this value chain.
